City Partnership
2024-2027 City Partnership
BREAZE is partnering with the City of Ballarat to support the implementation of the Ballarat Net Zero Emissions Plan. This will be through supporting and activating the community to work towards net zero 2030.
The partnership features three separate programs, which are each described in more detail below:
Ballarat ZNet Sustainability Awards Program to engage all community sectors in the Plan
A Home Energy Efficiency Workshop Program targeted to groups on basis of need
A Home Electrification Program to assist residents to get off gas.
Ballarat ZNet Sustainability Awards
Addressing the need to raise community awareness of the City’s Net Zero Emissions Plan, the BZNet Sustainability Awards will link awards to the five ‘Net Zero’ outcomes of the plan – Business, Homes, Greenfield Development, Transport and Waste.
The BZNet Awards will be launched during the Buninyong Smart Living Expo in February 2025 and engage local citizens, businesses and industry, acknowledging and promoting those whose projects reflect/align with Actions in the Plan. The Awards Night will be held on World Environment Day (5 June) or closely beforehand. Highlighting the community value of participants’ efforts towards decarbonising and living sustainably, the BZNet Awards program will benefit the Ballarat community by engaging citizens in better understanding the BZE Plan and building civic pride in the BZE 2030 target. A locally-based events coordinator and a team of community-networked volunteers will manage a video-centric marketing campaign via social media, building community goodwill and providing extremely cost-efficient publicity for the City of Ballarat’s Net Zero Emissions Plan.
Home Energy Efficiency Workshops
Targeting critical community groups, this program will help people make their homes healthier and more comfortable, while also saving on energy bills and cutting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
The program will empowering participants to make their homes energy efficient and cut energy costs while also benefiting the City by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Locally-based accredited Energy Scorecard Assessors will lead the workshops. We will offer householders, who would otherwise be unable to afford it, free access to home energy experts via small group situations – where they can ask questions pertaining to their specific needs.
Home Electrification campaign
Complementing the home energy efficiency workshops, BREAZE will roll out a Home Electrification campaign in collaboration with the City of Ballarat. We will focus on educating the broader community on the need for home electrification and providing some practical advice on how to go about this. The content will be tailored in response to a community survey.
In helping the community understand the need for transition to all electrical appliances, it will support the reduction of our City’s carbon footprint and address misconceptions about the cost and future savings of electrification that hamper the transition.
